A lot of adults with ADHD spend years assuming they're just disorganized, lazy, or bad at follow-through. If focus, time, and unfinished tasks have been a pattern your whole life, a proper evaluation can finally explain why.
Mind & Metabolism offers adult ADHD evaluations and ongoing treatment with our board-certified psychiatric providers, including Elizabeth Calfos, DNP, PMHNP-BC, by telehealth anywhere in Washington State or in person in Lakewood when available.
Signs that point to adult ADHD
- Trouble starting or finishing tasks, even ones that matter to you
- Losing track of time, appointments, or things you just put down
- Getting distracted easily, or locking in on the wrong thing
- Restlessness, impulsive decisions, or interrupting without meaning to
- Struggles that go back to childhood, even if no one called it ADHD
What the evaluation includes
An adult ADHD evaluation is part of a full psychiatric evaluation. We review your symptoms now and in childhood, how they affect work, school, and relationships, and your medical and mental health history. We use validated rating scales and look carefully at things that can look like ADHD, including anxiety, depression, sleep problems, and other conditions. Getting that right matters for treatment.
Treatment options
If ADHD is the right diagnosis, we'll go over your options, which can include stimulant or non-stimulant medication along with practical strategies. Some ADHD medications are controlled substances with additional state and federal requirements, such as monitoring and, in some cases, in-person visits. We'll be upfront about what applies to you. Ongoing care continues through medication management.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. We are an outpatient practice and can't provide emergency care.
